OurCampuses

Sciences Po Lyon has two main campuses: a historical one in Lyon, and one in Saint-Étienne that was inaugurated in 2017.

Located in the heart of the city center, the Lyon campus spans close to 8,000 m2 on the banks of the river Rhône. This historical site, which used to be home to the Military Health School, hosts the Sciences Po Lyon administrative departments, three large lecture halls, dozens of classrooms, a library and a cafeteria.

Opened in September 2017, the Saint-Étienne campus lies in the middle of the Tréfilerie University District in a freshly renovated art deco building in the city centre. In our small-scale academic year groups (50 students per year group), students also have the option of taking combined degrees in Law, Economics and a post-Soviet worlds institute diploma.

1

Berthelot site

Nestled in the heart of the city center and easily accessible by public transport, our Lyon campus is right in the middle of a dynamic district, an ideal setting for combining academic and student life.

Alongside their main degree, first and second year students on Lyon campus can pursue a diploma in Asian, Arab, Latin American, American, European and Sub-Saharan African studies.

However, students on this campus do not have access to the combined bachelor’s degree in Economy and Management run in partnership with the Saint-Étienne Commercial Administration Institute (IAE), nor the combined bachelor’s degree in Law that is run in partnership with Saint-Étienne Jean-Monnet University Faculty of Law, nor the Contemporary Russia institute diploma (DERUSCO).

2

Blandan site

At the start of the 2023 academic year, Sciences Po Lyon inaugurated the Public Factory, a place for training, research, innovation and debate on public action and its changes. Designed to encourage collaborative work, creativity and exchange, the space offers modular, user-friendly facilities for Sciences Po Lyon students and staff.

In addition to hosting courses, training and scientific activities, it aims to develop a cultural, artistic and civic programme in conjunction with the Sciences Po Lyon Foundation .

Ideally located in the heart of Parc Sergent Blandan (Lyon 7th arrondissement), the Public Factory is a 20-minute walk from Berthelot site and can be reached by public transport.

Find out more about Saint-Étienne campus

Lying in the city center and easily accessible by tram, Saint-Etienne campus is housed in an art-deco building inaugurated in 2017. The cosy size of academic year groups (50 students per year) and low cost of living help to foster a great spirit and solidarity among students.

Undergraduate teaching is identical to that offered on Lyon campus. At the end of the third year of study (international exchange year), students on this campus have the option of joining the Lyon campus or continuing in Saint-Etienne, depending on their major.

There are three unique options for students on the Saint-Étienne campus. The first is the opportunity to follow a combined degree pathway with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economy and Management in partnership with the Saint-Étienne Commercial Administration Institute (IAE); the second is to follow a combined degree pathway with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law in partnership with the Saint-Étienne Jean-Monnet University Faculty of Law; and the third is to follow a Contemporary Russia institute diploma. However, it is not possible to follow any of the other six institute diplomas offered by Sciences Po Lyon (Asia, Arab World, Latin America, United States of America, European Union or Sub-Saharan Africa).

Providing the option of a full Sciences Po Lyon degree program on the Saint-Étienne campus represents a powerful lever in the Institute’s development. It also makes it possible to forge sustainable relations with local authorities and economic stakeholders in one of the great French cities.
