Prior to your arrival, complete the necessary administrative procedures to facilitate settling in to life in Lyon.
Administrative registration with Sciences Po Lyon:
Upon acceptance of an application, the international exchange office will send the registration dossier to each applicant by email. The applicant in question should then complete and submit this on our online application platform, along with all necessary supporting documents:
- Photocopy of your passport
- European health insurance card (EHIC) for European students
Administrative registration is compulsory for students to receive their student card. As all administrative formalities can be completed without any difficulties or delay, the dossier and supporting documents should be sent via our online application platform.
If the applicant does not come from a European Union Member State or a country in the European Free Trade Association, it is essential to obtain a visa before arrival in France.

In France, it is compulsory to take out health insurance. Students from within the European Union must apply for a European Health Insurance Card – EHIC – and ensure that it remains valid for the entire duration of their stay.
Students who are residents of non-EU/EEA Member States and Switzerland can maintain their private health insurance cover if it is complete, or request continuation of cover by the social security from the Primary Health Insurance Office (Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie CPAM) at the following website: etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr.
Students who are residents of Quebec should request a SE 401-Q-106 form from the RAMQ before departure and should make an appointment with the CPAM with the duly completed form.
