Incomingmobility

Every year, Sciences Po Lyon welcomes over 250 international students of more than 30 different nationalities.

International students can join Sciences Po Lyon for a semester or two as part of an academic exchange or as a free-mover, or simply through our traditional admission channels: our competitive entrance exams.

The courses can take several forms. Fundamental courses (CF) are generally lectures in an amphitheatre for 200 students, while method conferences (CDM) are generally organised in groups of no more than 25 students, who are expected to participate actively throughout the semester.

Organisation of courses

First-semester courses generally start in mid-September and run until the end of December. Second-semester courses start in January and run until the end of April. All examinations take place the month after the end of the course.

Examinations are generally held at the end of the semester for CO, CF and CS, while CDMs are assessed on a continuous basis throughout the semester. Students are admitted if they obtain an overall average of 10 out of 20 in the examinations. In this case, they receive all the ECTS for the degree concerned.

It should be noted that most courses (except for the DFES) are taught in French, so a minimum level of B2 is required. Attendance is compulsory and will be checked. Any absence must be justified by a medical certificate.
